Oh, really now?
Apr. 17th, 2007 03:49 pmOk, so you're post-Bear.
You're so post-Bear you're post-post-post-Bear.
So why in the fuck are you still on Bear411, BearCiti, BearForest, BigMuscleBears and HipperThanThouBears.com?
Take your condecension and your affected attitude and leave or just come out and fess up to the fact you're looking for dick, you post-Bear, hipster, no-talent aside from sarcasm, on the upper curve of hideous looking muther effin' scumbag.
Thank you. I will now continue to enjoy the hirsute male without you making me feel like a plebe for it.
Fucktard.

Am I post straight?
Was I ever straight?
Am I bear now?
Do I decide?
God this is complicated.

Date: 2007-04-17 11:57 pm (UTC)THAT made me laugh. Best. Observation. Ever. :)
And while I agree with your rant, philisophically I think the "post-bear-movement" was always just that, "in quotes". I, for one, never heard *anyone* use it without tongue firmly planted in cheek until a few months ago, and it was clear then that most people are dumb and have no sense of humor. :)
I'm all for the fat hairy dick. I can do without the guest bed covered in teddy bears, but I certainly don't judge someone based on that alone. :)

Date: 2007-04-18 01:10 am (UTC)They have MET you, haven't they? You're a social butterfly. (And no, I'm not talking - or just talking - about where playtime is concerned.)
I'm post-bear, I think...but no matter where I'm at, I don't want to shit on someone else's parade. I may not join it, but I don't need to mark my opinion all over it, either. I don't wanna be what, to me, a Plastic Bear or a Heather Bear is - a group of people who define themselves simply on who they can reject and make fun of (or how many people they can reject and write off). That isn't a pretty sight when it's twelve-year old girls; watching fat hairy men do it is disturbing. Bitches need to live and let live.

Date: 2007-04-18 01:27 am (UTC)You so have my undying love for that tag.
The point is, I am done with people being judgemental or high-handed because I choose to go to a bear run where I see my friends! I mean, fuck all, do I bombard them when they want to sit in bad coffeehouses, talk about beating fake coke addictions and snap their fingers to REALLY bad poetry? No.
(Well maybe a little)
BTW, I can totally be a heather bear. I SO own that. I should have a shirt.

Date: 2007-04-18 01:44 am (UTC)I'm sure the these post-bear fellas, and I've seen a few of them, wouldn't know happiness because they are too caught up in rejecting those who rejected them for being rejected or whatever you call it when your bitter. What it all comes down to is that I don't really care, but this guy obviously wants drama & pity and is a bottomless pit of emotional need. No one labels themselves as post-high school, or post-single, or post-diet and then shows up in the very places he claims to reject. For all the "post-bears" out there, here's a new label for ya: Post-interested. Which is what I am about you and your angsty-self-pity-drama.

Date: 2007-04-18 02:29 am (UTC)I myself talk to whomever I want, whenever I want, and fuck anyone who doesn't like it. That's why, if a label must be applied, I would be post-bear - but I guess that post-exclusionist is a better one. In the end, it only means one thing - I'm not going to kowtow to ANY single group's purposeless demands about who is acceptable and who isn't. If you're interesting, I'll talk to you. Easy as pie.

I guess I'm mostly just disappointed in what we've become. Weren't we formed originally to fight pointless exclusion?
I'm growing tired, I think.

Date: 2007-04-18 03:14 pm (UTC)It's inevitable; most subcultures have a core holdfast that grok the original intent of the movement, but as mainstream media and society legitimize a subculture through acknowledgement, new adherents come into the subculture who have a perception of that same subculture through the lens of an outside influence.
You think it's bad NOW? Just wait for a few more issues of A Bear's Life, which for good or ill will be deemed by people outside Beardom as "the" pulse of our subculture.
My solution is this: I was there at the beginning. I'm for inclusion, I practice it, and I try to be accepting and not label folks. Many of my friends do the same. Remain true to the core ideas of the culture, but don't let false latter-day perceptions of "what is bear" force you to abandon what's, at the heart of it all, a good thing.
