Well, I've read through this thread (which took some doing to find in the first place, naturally) and looked at the update calendar. Zero joy. This leaves me as one frustrated DM.
Yes, you've heard everyone venting on the nine pages before this; I'm about to do the same, so cover your ears if you don't like it. :-)
I paid my quarterly subscription fee on September 25th; bit of a leap of faith I know, but I hoped WotC would realize DDI constitutes a product beyond mere fanboy extras and treat it as such. I'm alright with delays. There was a lot to add; I can understand needing to reprogram things to account for Dark Sun and Essentials as well. Were I work we do project planning for things such as these. All of this is sloppy on their part but certainly forgivable. The lack of information certainly is not. I shouldn't have to tear through the intertubes looking for a status update when my username is my bloody e-mail address. An e-mail constituting, "Sorry, this will take longer than expected!" should have been sent to all DDI subscribers.
I understand my Insider subscription also includes Dungeon and Dragon as well as these nifty forums and whatnot, but the meat of why I wanted the subscription was for the Character Builder & Monster Builder. I'm not even upset about the VTT; these things take time to add. I'm patient. Mostly.
However, the Character Builder and Monster Builder are products I pay for that promise and require updating. To everyone out there saying, "Just write it down," I say hell no. I pay for this service as time-saver. I run two games and work full-time. It is FAR quicker to use these tools and, bluntly, I paid for them. WotC has the money and isn't offering it back to me. So to anyone who feels we should stop bitching, please contact me via e-mail so you can give me $25.00 and I can tell you to "just go write it down."
I LOVE the CB and Monster Builder. Its one of the reasons I'm a D&D fanatic and came back to the game frome other systems. I do not love game companies like TSR back in the day and White Wolf now that abuse their fans and ignore them. If we at least don't get some update as to this I'm going to drop DDI and seriously consider dropping WotC products altogether. And yes, WotC, I am your target market. I purchase two of everything you produce and often more than that for the members of my gaming groups. I am on the ground promoting your games to fans and spending a LOT of money on your product. Please respect your customers enough to keep them informed.
In summation: I just want my update so I can keep gaming and buying loads of your new releases. Not hard to see the wisdom in a little give on this, is there?
