Some quick realizations about my romantic sensibilities.

1) If you are a tortured soul with a tragic past and a great PR machine or carefully crafted alter ego and no moral accountability WHATSOEVER, I'll probably fall for you.

2) If you are a hapless cub, looking for a home where you can avoid work while telling me how happy you are to be mine and/or plying me with sex in order to get what you want, my genitalia will send a chemical to my brain making me as observant as a tree stump.

3) If you are a combination of the two above cases, I'll probably do everything you say, up to and including performing like a trained seal until you get what you came for.

As a rule, boys are dumb.
I am a boy.
Logic follows that I am dumb.

It's interesting to note that my BEST decisions romantically have been ones I've had to think over for a time. I'm a terrible impulse lover and I get crushes on the WRONG people as a rule.

Hopefully I can fix that.

Well, that'd be one way to do it. (Seriously.)

Another is to simply not let yourself have anyone move in or you spend more than $X on doing stuff with them (visiting, etc.) without approval. Have your flings - you know you like them. Just don't let them affect long-term day to to day stuff unless you're convinced you mean it.

Nah. This is more akin to someone who likes drinking too much for their own good.

If you're going to go out drinking, and know you do stupid stuff while drinking like driving, give someone else your keys.

To skip the analogy, if the problem is you bring cubs home cause they make pretty sex toys and mess with your sense of "why am I letting this guy mooch off of me", let someone else make the final call on this happening.

That doesn't mean you should stop drinking bringing the cubs home. It just means you stop adopting them. :-)

It's not a current problem, but more a trait I've had. I'm less swayed by nubile young cubs than dark & mysterious artsy types who'll screw you over then write a sonnet about the great life lesson they learned from doing it.
