We just had one of our assistant deans suggest that we get ACT and migrate all of our data to it.

Um...would this be the same ACT! 6.0 with which you are currently experiencing difficulties?

Any words of wisdom or advice that I could take to my superiors?

Regular backing up of the database would go a long way in solving this problem.

Actually, the database is backed up every Monday morning manually by me and there is a prompt that does it every month; the reindexing of it is what crashed it. When I tried to back it up just in case before attempting to reindex it again, it saved the cheesed database.

This wasn't so much a user issue as much as the fact that it just a technical foul. I had the company tech person figure out how to just save the database on my machine as opposed to trying to update it over the network.

Regardless, all the errors will be fixed by early next week.

Actually, I have used several including Goldmine and ACT, and ACT is a great program. Every program crashes; this is the first time it's done so.
