Weekending
May. 8th, 2005 06:35 pmThe skinny on three days that were:
Friday-- Uneventful at work, but still busy. I still exist in a vacuum at work where I can look up and see four hours have passed on the clock in the span of whjat I thought was twenty minutes. This is both blessing and burden as there is barely ever enough time for me to complete a thing. The positive note of this work week was that I have dispensed with a great deal of my drudgework & will be able to move onto some projects that I find a touch more fufilling.
Coming to Madison was a bit of drudgery because I was so tired; my weekend is usually dominated by the fact that I'm so exhausted from the work week that I'm a lazy pile of bones.
We got in to see the boys roundabouts midnight, and a very cranky yours truly was put to bed immediately.
Saturday-- What to say; a frenzy of window shopping during the day when we should have been helping Shaner rearrange his bedrooms. Again, my lackadasical self strikes and we do little until we meet Ed (
suominorgebear) at the Best Buy in Madison's West Towne Mall; I wanted to introduce him to the lads and we chatted for about an hour before we had to fly to dinner reservations at Louisianne's & Co.
Ah, here is the highlight of my weekend. Louisianne's & Co. is from what I gather a nouvelle Cajun restaurant. The food was utterly flawless and for the food porn set I feasted upon:
Appetizers:
Crab Puffs
Pulled-Pork Crepes
Goat Cheese crusted with pecans in a Lime-Chili Sauce
Soup:
Espresso Roast Pork Soup
Main Course:
Sea Scallops in a Sun-Dried Tomato Cream Champagne Sauce over Fettucini.
The boys also had Seafood Au Gratin and Jim had Hazelnut Chicken over Sauteed Spinach. It was AMAZING. Aside from a overly complex Sauvingon Blanc, the meal was utterly intoxicating. If you're in the Madison, WI. area you have to go there. Don't fight me, just get thee there. It's excellent food at an incredible price and I will be feasting joyously on leftovers for days to come.
Some dinner topics included Southern Deccadence & brunch at the Port of Two Sisters; the unfortunate trend of bear fellows to spend all their money at Bear Events on cheap beer and not decent restaurants; one friend hopelessly partnered to a true bigot of a man; how we missed the Boo & a certain set of Southernly cubs; and places to visit in upcoming months.
I will remember until I drop off this plane the adorable faces of disgust Jim made at the mention of seafood.
Sunday-- Ah, treacherous bitch of a day! After ritual coffee with S. I noticed a tickle in the back of my throat followed later bt a temperature & ill disposition. As I was set to meet P. and hang about, I decided to pass since I didn't want to give him the cold I was obviously getting. After a quick e-mail my routine today became:
Sleep
Laundry
Sleep
Laundry
Be grumpy.
We'll be leaving in a few hours after dinner, and I hope I won't be an utter pain in the ass until them, but being sick has set my mood to sour. Right now, I'm craving something sweet... and nothing is seeming to satisfy. I love my mystery biochemistry.
