No, really.

The next person that I chat with who laments how becoming HIV + effectively ended their life after I see the phrase "don't tell me your HIV status UNTIL you're blowing in my ass" put in before they converted in their profile...

Well, they get a ride down the elevator, sans elevator car.

1) There are a number of my friends, good folks all, who slipped up & got an unwelcome visitor. As opposed to advertising for it on Bareback.com.

2) Being HIV + doesn't end your life; I have vital friends I care a fuckload about who are healthy & still counted among the living.

3) Anyone who actively invites HIV infection then laments it happening is a fucktard. Depressed, perhaps, and not in the right headspace, but you still get the Darwin award.

4) For those of us still living with the paranoia of straight folk who say "you're all just walking AIDS cases", thanks. You prove them right.

5) Finally, as someone who tries very hard to be careful & minimize risks, thank you for making me feel justified in my paranoia.

Some motherfuckers need a good beating, since reason is a closed book to them.

I could not possibly agree with you more. Accidents happen, but behavior such as you've described leaves a person open to public mockery and derision.

Yeah, but these people are justifying the bigotry... bigotry is easier to get rid of if there's no reasoning behind it.

If you want an interesting musical listen on 'bug chasing' I'll play you "a Miracle" by the Hidden Cameras sometime.

It perplexes me too. I mean I've seen ads like "HIV+ top into BB". Seriously who looks at that and says "that sounds like the guy for me!"

I've listened to that song dozens of times and had no idea that was what it was about...

I'll answer that one, Alex! What is, "half the chat room any given night on gay.com?"

Someone with no common sense or self-esteem, that's who.

I understand, and agree with, the concept that HIV/AIDS is not something to be demonized for. But it disturbs me that it's become, in some quarters, fetishized and made to be "hawt".

Can I get an Amen!

On my hopeful days, I think of this phenomenon as Darwinism in action. Eventually, the people in our community with no common sense, no sense of self-preservation, and no self-esteem will thus be weeded out, and the rest of us will collectively find it easier to get real change accomplished.

That's just on the hopeful days, though.
