Ow, ow, ow
Oct. 4th, 2005 01:05 pmI started my new weightlifting regimen last night with my friend Ignacio, who is a Puerto Rican tornado of exercise efficiency and REALLY well done tattoos. Unlike other workout buddies I've had, he was all about getting everything done within one hour or so, and wasn't in a very "take a slow pace" mindset. He knew the forms and exercises and really took me to task on the lifting. I was stunned at how much I got done within an hours time.
Bench Press-- 4 sets, 12 reps each
Incline Press-- 4 sets, 12 reps each
Dumbbell presses-- 4 sets of 12 reps each
Hammer Presses (?)-- 4 sets, same as above
Some torturous smith machine-- 3 sets at twelve, full extension, then one set of as many as I could manage to strengthen my shoulders.
It was brutal, like D-Day with cardio machines. He warned me that I'd hate him come morning, and I can honestly say I don't hate him in the slightest. I hate myself for not stretching. The moment of my truest despair came when I was drying my hands at home after washing up; I was so sore I started laughing madly at how ridiculously hard and painful it was to wash my hands. Aside from that, I loved it and will be on those hellishly perverse cardio rockers tonight.

That will help limit your soreness next time.
