Happy Halloween!
Oct. 31st, 2005 12:16 pmI love Halloween.
I hope all my friends enjoy the night and revel as much as work schedules allow. Personally, I'm going to do my favorite thing every Halloween night:
Pass out candy to kids.
It's sappy, really, but I like to be the one to answer the door for the kids, eyes alight with the joy of Halloween, and see them bounce up and down as I shovel handfuls of candy at them. It's my way of recapturing the fevered magic of that night from my childhood. Plus, I get to pump already overexcited neighbor children full of processed sugars. I take full revenge on any rude neigbors by making sure the won't get one lick of sleep.
Mostly though, it's because I like to dwell in the fond memories of so many happy Halloweens.
My treat this year is: fitting into a pair of pants I was unable to wear 6 months ago. Thank you, insane leg workout.
My trick this year is: Driving home right now. Love you, babeies. :-)
Everyone say hello to a ghostie for me tonight.

Date: 2005-10-31 06:34 pm (UTC)i used to love doing that back when i lived in Mississippi and in Memphis. Here in SF, i live in a condo with very few children so nobody comes to the door on Halloween.
i'm planning on my first "Halloween in the Castro" ...
Can you believe i've been here ten years and never gone to it?

Date: 2005-11-01 03:33 am (UTC)When life is going well (in general), I'm upbeat about Halloween.
When life sucks, I tend to distance myself from it.
Even when I was laid off on Halloween, I still celebrated it... But I haven't since. :(
I look forward to the day when I can do that again.
I admit, dressing up as a cop kept most of the teenagers away from our house that evening. ;)
