I need some way to start mitigating the stress in my life from relationships, school, work, and other avenues. Aside from general weightlifting, is there anything out there anyone can suggest? My headaches & exhaustion are becoming very hard to manage....

You could take up a sport, though team dynamics can take on their own stresses.

What? Why are you laughing at me?

Hm, you make a good point.

Australian football. You should give it a go. Physical contact, team unity, hotties in short shorts. :)

I'd suggest yoga and meditation, some biofeedback training would be good, too.

The concept of me doing either seems a bit humorous. Any suggestions where to start?

Perhaps your gym has a yoga class? I'd look in your area for a yoga school or a buddhist temple for meditation class. There's a localized nationwide publication called the Open Exchange that lists classes and workshops. Perhaps there's something similar to that where you live.

Yoga is more than just contorting one's body into wacky poses, although it certainly can be that, too. It's an entire way of relating to your body, one that helps relax, calm, soothe, strengthen, harmonize. I recommend it to bears because it is not about being perfect in the poses, but rather it's about recognizing where you are _in the moment_ in relationship to your body and doing what you can right then. Being in the moment is a remarkably empowering sensation, feels good, and has healing capabilities that science is only just now starting to realize.

This is so true. I took a yoga class for a semester and was feeling so very good by the end of the semester... it's a shame I don't make time for it in my daily life. It's one of my goals this year though.

It's too bad I you don't live here, and it's too bad I can't afford to travel to SF. :( I need a good healing massage these days. And I always feel safer with bear masseurs. :)

*HUGS*

Come fishing or hiking with me sometime or by yourself. It's a way to relax and forget about everything for a while. I know it sounds boring to some and it's seems not to be the thing for gay men but the forest preserves are not ONLY for cruising, lol.

You could pencil in on your busy schedule where you do absolutely nothing. It might help.

Sadly, stress hits us all...

I personally think that our entire lives are designed to be stressful. I mean, how many times when we don't have major stresses, do we turn little things into big issues? All the time. I think our bodies/minds just want to be scared shitless all the time.
