If you think one person's an asshole, you're probably right.
If you think a few are, you should probably consider your actions to be sure.
If you think EVERYONE is you should realize it is probably you that is the asshole.

Amen to that! I need to print that out and give it to a few people.

Maybe I can fit it on a small piece of paper and hand it out as a fortune cookie. :)

It would work well on a business card.

This is one of my favorite "deep thoughts"

Unless of course you are actually surrounded by assholes. Like you're say, in the White House, or at a Scientology meeting, or in the audience at Bill O'Reilly's show.

I think the polarization, and intentional polarization, the result of Rove's brilliant yet evil campaign strategies, have pushed a lot of people on both sides of the conservative/liberal war into the 'asshole' range. Me being one of them. I've been pushed into a zero-tolerance defense mode against anything that is founded in faith-based reasoning.

we're a country of cornered squirrels clawing desperatlely at threatening shadows even when that shadow comes from a helping hand.

Scary times. And I'm not sure what to do about it.

It wasn't like this in the 90's.

Political discourse it the latest casualty in the current American civil cold war. No one is willing to entertain that the other side of the political row might have valid points because everyone is so busy with histronics that they can't see anything other than whatever agenda is being spoonfed to them by CNN.

The atmosphere today is very reminiscent of Tailginner Joe's day. Look up a book by Ted Morgan called Reds. In the preface he declares Bush will be remembered as one of our worst Presidents due to his use of fear & disinformation as a tactic. The parallels between Karl Rove, Bush, and McArthy are disturbing, to say the least.
