Poverty. I'm quite done with it.

Despite what Rent may try to tell you, poverty is neither romantic nor does it inspire one to greater creativity. All it does is make you eat at McDonald's and feel a smoldering anger everytime you hear someone bitch how expensive their Beamers are.

Feh on the romance of poverty.

Now, how to correct this cosmic oversight...

The people who romanticize poverty are the ones who've never been poor. I can't remember the band, but there's a song that sums it up nicely:

Poverty isn't eating at McDonald's. As tasteless and unromantic as it, that's still a luxury.

Poverty is what's going to happen when Americans realize they're in debt up to their ears and stop their free-wheeling spending spree.

Amen! Kinda like ordering from the dollar menu every day of the week, that's still around $20 a month you could have used for gas. And no, I have not done that. But I admit, the chicken sandwich is not too bad.

To me poverty is working and going to the grocery store and bringing the food home and realizing that you do not have a chef to prepare it for you. I am too poor to eat at McDonald's and I enjoy it. I will never be done with poverty. What are the other two things we never get enough of: not being celibate? and living in total disobedience?
