I'm paying the price for last night today at work, but I'm peaceable with that. My eye are so bleary I look like a stone-cold junkie here at work, and I'm doing my damnedest impression of Zombie Office Manager.

Last night after work I headed uptown from the Loop to have dinner and a few yucks with [livejournal.com profile] dedos. Chris is an amazing fellow, and despite us being friends for nearly eight years, I had yet to just hang out with him in the seven months since he moved to the Windy City. So after downing a caramel macchiato I zipped over from work on the Red line.

Chris' apartment is unique... I thought it'd be cramped with four roomies, but his apartment is really more a full two floor affair. The upper portion of the apartment was amazingly well done; I momentarily thought about breaking up with my guys to move into it, it was that nifty of a space...

(BOYFRIEND DISCLAIMER: I wouldn't really break-up with you over an apartment. It has to be a condo at least. *kidding*)

So we walked Gryphon and talked, which we haven't gotten a chance to do in many years. Our conversation mainly consisted of me prattling on & on, since [livejournal.com profile] dedos is more a sage listener.

I'm sure that makes me a terrible bore; next time we chat I think I'll try listening a bit more.

We finished walking Gryphon, and then joined [livejournal.com profile] grande to score some dinner at a local Jimmy John's. It's been an age since seeing Lloyd, and we chatted (read: snarked) a bit about some Chicago folks I knew, and somewhere on the way to Jimmy John's I admitted my secret disdain for a particular LJ Bear supahstah. It's my secret shame. No, really.

After dinner I headed back to Chris' place for some tasty, tasty Robot Chicken, which he happened to have the first season of on DVD. We watched a few hours of that, and then I headed back home by Red Line, Brown Line and Metra Rail, the last of which was filled with drunk White Sox frat boys/fan boys who were trying to get some play from the equally smashed Sorority Sisters of the Easy Lay Down, who also were, not surprisingly, White Sox fans. I was serenaded to sleep on the train by belches and bad come-on lines. At one point I almost got up and showed them how a real man treats a lady (I was going to slap the nannering bitches) but I settled for mooing out "GO DRUNK SOX! as I left the train.

Sleep came fitfully, and it feels like I merely blinked & I'm back in my office chair.

God, I need coffee, but the evening was well worth it.

:-) I think that's the first time I've been called a sage, well, anything really. And no, you're not a bore at all! I'm used to listening more than talking.

I hope you dig those Belle & Sebastian tracks. I can definitely dig up more music that I think you'd like when you're done with 'em.
