many of them disable right click saving, but do nothing about dragging the image off of your browser onto the desktop. Not sure what site you are talking about here.
You could also use Ctrl-U to view the page or frame source and extract the image URL from that. Just look for the <IMG... tag. The image URL will be in the SRC attribute.
Well you can save an archive onto your desktop of the frame that contains the photo.
Left Click somewhere in the frame with the photo. In Firefox go to the file menu and select Save Frame As. Then go to your desktop and you should find the photo file somewhere in the archive.
I usually take a screenshot of the webpage and then crop the picture in a photo editor. I think it's shift and then the print screen button. Then you should be able to paste that in to paint brush or Microsoft Digital Image
I have a way that maybe is not the most time-efficient; In the case you describe I can hit *print screen* then open up MS Publisher/powerpoint...the right click paste. Then save as .jpg. The open in your favorite photo editor and crop.
Not sure if this works in firefox, but it does on IE. If you are running XP if you hover the curser over the picture you want it will normally bring up a few options, one of which is save as. I have used this on sites that prohibit the right click and save option.
There's a very simple, no-nonsense fix for this. What these sites are technically doing is a form of browser hijacking, which isn't cool, and which is why Firefox lets you....
Go to "tools."
Go to "options."
Select the "content" tab. Make sure the box for JavaScript IS checked.
Click "advanced" next to the JavaScript box.
UNCHECK "disable or replace context menus."
Click "OK."
Click "OK."
Presto. You may get an annoying pop-up box, but the "save" menu will still come up, anyhow.
Another quick way is as follows Go to "Tools" Go to "Page Info" Switch to the "Media" tab Scroll through the items listed, select the one you want, and click on the "Save As" button.
This works for a lot of images. Hopefully the one you want hasn't been split up into a bunch of images. If it has, taking screen shots is your best bet to get it all.
I use an external program called "Snag It". You leave the picture (or video) you want open, open the program, select the type of capture you want, drag a box around the picture and click on the finish button. It gives you the option of where to save it. If you want a copy, big D, all you have to do is ask me.

Use the preference toolbar to toggle JavaScript off & on.
You can also try right-click -> View Image. Then try to save from the View Image window.
Shoot me an email with what site you're 'working with' and I'll see what other ideas I can figure out for ya.
