Today is a positively dreary gray day here in Chicago; I am trying not to let the weather foul my mood. At times like this I wonder how people can live in Seattle where rain gobbles up the sky on such a regular basis. There must be some inherent optimism in folks from the Northwest, or somesuch.

Anyway, I'm here. Still alive and kicking, still working. I withdrew from school this summer due to my little tango with MRSA and despite having a wide-open schedule I stil *feel* like I'm way too busy. It's odd how quickly the week can just fill up with errands and the odd visit from a friend.

I've started to play World of Warcraft to whittle away the hours on a weekday and like so many nerds before me I've become completely hooked. I currently have a full compliment of Horde toons on Garona and a boatload of Alliance toons on Stormscale, which is where my three main toons are.

Part of the reason those in the NW don't get too down about it is that, while it's often cloudy, it really doesn't rain there much at all, and for three months in the summer, there's not a cloud in the sky. Ah, the rain shadow. :)

I grew up on Vancouver Island and we got a lot of rain there as well. I still joke to people to this day that we had 2 seasons.

Rainy and not so Rainy.

But growing up in that kind of weather and spending so much of a mostly happy childhood there leaves me to this day feeling very much happy and connected.
