A Tale of Two Cubbies
Apr. 9th, 2008 02:51 pmHere's a Fairy Tale for you about two cubbies...
Cubby E has lived in a magickal land of no rent & free food for nearly eight months! Cubby E does little around the castle and only works part time at Ye Olde Ink & Toner Shoppe. Cubby E has saved no shillings and spent his money on comic books. Cubby E was laid off by Ye Olde Ink & Toner Shoppe & decided he should buy comic books to celebrate! Yay! Cubby E is mad because he says he can't get a job in the kingdom unless he has a Never, Neverland Address. Cubby E decided it was a good idea to *not* tell the King that he was laid off by Ye Olde Ink & Toner Shoppe...
Meanwhile, Cubby J moved into the magickal kingdom a week ago & already has two jobs and an apartment! Cubby J didn't use a Never, Neverland Address or his college degree, but still got Ye Olde Employment. Cubby J helps around the house, pays for his food, and replaces anything he uses! Cubby J will be out of the castle a few weeks earlier than he said he would be! Cubby J really makes Cubby E sad because Cubby E TRIES SO HARD! IT'S NOT HIS FAULT!
Cubby E is just looking for his place in this world, his pLaAaaACCEEE in this wOoOOOoOoOrld!
Who do you think the dragon is going to eat? Will a hero save Cubby E from the dragon?

Date: 2008-04-09 09:26 pm (UTC)Drop him off at one of the Chicago area furry enclaves. Since there's a huge furcon in the area, there are always clandestine crash pads of young furries trying to live near the "scene." Give him a good sob story about being persecuted. He'll fit right in. :)

Date: 2008-04-09 10:21 pm (UTC)Oh, and it must have some involvement with a magical midget. Dwarves, gnomes, halflings - it doesn't much matter. Just something magical and short.

Date: 2008-04-09 11:58 pm (UTC)I'm more mystified by my own desire to say "but...." which then must be followed by "no. it isn't right to defend. accept. no. bullshit." And the defense is only bullshit. I know I said no to people in situations similar (and situations EXACTLY as you describe) because I didn't want to be in the position you are in. I felt shame to offer words and ideas and not space and time to those people. This ending does not make me feel better (as exemplified by my desire to defend), but I guess it does prove my misgivings before.
some folks are ready for the world, and some are not. I mentioned to J yesterday when we had dinner somewhere in our talk that he should take a moment to feel pride in that he's done x, y and z, not without obstacle or adaptation, but with resolve, ingenuity and maturity. I know I am incapable of patting myself on the back, but cubby J deserves credit for what he does and hopefully in a way that does not harm cubby E too much...but enough to make him see the world for what it is, not what he thought it would be.

Date: 2008-04-10 12:11 am (UTC)Cubby E has to face facts. Unless he finds Daddy S (for sugar) next week to pay all his bills - and that's not likely - he's done for if he doesn't take job A... or rather, A job. Sadly, sometimes we have to learn important things about life the hard way.
