From Out of Oblivion
Jul. 2nd, 2008 10:21 amWell, hello. It's been awhile.
I know I've been pretty laconic in my journal of late and I thought that it was high time to correct that... there is no real reason why I've been so quiet of late aside from the fact that I've simply been just that damn busy. This is a good thing, mark my words. I described my situation to one friend as happily surfing through my life right now, enjoying the crests and waves of my days with a big old smile on my face.
By way of updates, life has been pretty kind... freaky busy but very, very kind.
Love, hope and wonder to you all, my friends.

- Orlando was brilliant. The One Mighty Weekend event was so far removed from beardom that I got a happy glimpse of gay life beyond our furry little borders. I danced, I laughed, I listened to great DJ's. I took off my shirt and danced madly despite being one of the bigger guys out of parties with between four to five thousand people at them. I was carefree and got a chance to see friends and people I love enjoy themselves. It was beautiful and I'll carry the memory with me forever.
- Work has been demanding, but rewarding overall. For the past few weeks I've been coming in early, leaving late and shouldering as much as I could while one of our most important staff members was on vacation. I expected a small bonus, but was surprised with a ridiculously huge raise for my efforts. You still can't pry the grin off my face with a crowbar over THAT one.
- I'm gamemastering again! Two weeks ago I started up a Star Trek campaign called (working title) "The Dark Heart of Space". The first session went wonderfully and I've been blessed by great players with some AWESOME character concepts. I'm running again this week and my creative game flow has just burst my mental dams... I'm setting down plots and characters for multiple campaigns with ease. I feel creatively charged and ready to run about 10 games a week, but 1 will suffice for now.
- Did I mention gaming? I'm currently in a Star Wars campaign run by
redbullbear1968 called Duel of the Fates. It's his retelling of the first three Star Wars episodes and I am happy as a clam with my character, who is essentially a Noble/Scoundrel who is a Slicer/Investigator for the Senate Bureau of Investigations. All I have to say is that last game I played I redeemed my character's brutal beatdown at the hands of Jango Fett by sniping a lot of minions then SHOOTING A SITH RIGHT IN THEIR FRAKKING FACE! Yeah, please rename yourself Darth D.O.A.
- Mikey is off school and enjoying his Summer vacation... I forgot how comforting it is to have him around the house more, even though he's still attending principal selection committees for his school. This reminds me: I must snuggle him upon sight later.
- In some sad news it looks as though Travis will likely get a job at Princeton to work on the big fusion projects there. This caused everyone no end of sadness, but after some plotting the scheme is to have him work at Princeton for a year then to try & work remotely on the project from Chicago. The Princeton gig would be an amazing boost to his resume, and passing on it would be foolish... so we soon face a year where we will only see him once, perhaps twice, a month. This blows goat of course, but it must be done. I was ranting about this to a friend who kindly reminded me that the hand-wringing over my lover going to do his post-doc at Princeton should be appreciated since a few years ago I was doing hand-wringing over my then-boyfriend possibly having an overdose on coke. Look how far my neuroses have come, eh?
- My sex life is absolutely, ridiculously amazing. And that's ME saying that, so take note. My sex life is probably wilder than Prince's right now. In fact, I may be orgasming as I write this.
- Finances improving? Check. Going back to school? Check. Renovating the house bit by bit? Check.
Love, hope and wonder to you all, my friends.
