vianegativaAgain, conversations with people converge to a point that I think karma, fate or the Giant Robo Octopus that runs the Universe wants me to ponder something aloud.
If you know someone who has lied, cheated, stolen or generally been an irredeemable bastard with your friends & other folks, the chance is very likely that they will continue the exact same patterns with you. To this end I'm not talking about the human foibles we all have... white lies or the occasional indiscretion. We all occasionally tell white lies and we all occasionally do something absolutely foolish or selfish. We're human and it comes with the biology.
No, I'm talking right bastards who regularly steal thousands, lie constantly and generally leave a trail of human wreckage in their wake.
I don't care how hot the guy is. If he's fucked over ever single person you know and your dick chokes off every ounce of logical thought to your brain and you let him fuck you over, you are WELL deserving of what you get. A Cray supercomputer couldn't count how many guys I know who've gotten fucked over by a known player, all because he was fairly attractive.
Do not romanticize such people. If you lament the "good person they used to be" with teary eyes and bitterly retort about what a great person they were until they met person X, then you're forgetting free will. People are responsible for their own actions and if they were willing to screw someone over, they've most likely ALWAYS been willing to do so. You're just remember the halcyon days of when they weren't screwing YOU.
Third, and herein lies my greatest sin, sometimes those people who are users will look like they need help. Generally, the help they need is to escape from a situation they created. Despite your good-nature, do NOT help such folks. The best thing you can possibly do for someone who has burned through every friend's couch and cubbards in a city is to let accountability hit them squarely between the eyes. Most people find a new appreciation for keeping a job when they've had to sleep on a steam grate and social mobility tends to come easily to those who've been anally plundered by hobos in a back alley.
Finally, I'd like to point out that to those of you who fall for these shenanigans, I will not coddle you for another minute. If you ask me about someone, I tell you they're bad news and they fuck you over, DO NOT run crying to me. I've neither the time nor the patience to console you over jumping off a cliff you knew full well about.
