It has been six shades of forever since I posted here, and it occurred to me to do so just to prove that I am, in fact, alive and not a fictional character.

I have been using Facebook for mu guerilla status updates but have yet to be swayed by the non-stop stream of inanity that is Twitter. I'm still debating where LJ fits in, if at all, anymore in terms of expressing myself. At the very least I can use the privacy feature to keep an actual journal but LiveJournal is very much a social networking site as well, and in that, anything I say in is moved from private ponderings to social interaction.

So where DOES this journal fit in these days? Update post? Venting mechanism? Fanboy pad?

And how is everyone in LJ land? :-)

"Well I dream that she aims to be
the bloom upon my misery
Lose her once I have the means
For tiny cartoon vegas queens"

Good to see you again. FB seems better suited for quick snippets to me while LJ offers the chance to delve into richer detail and more conversation. Regardless, I welcome more LJ and more FB posts from your handsome self :-)

Ditto to what the above said about more substance on LJ. I joined FB to keep in touch with people when I moved out west, but there's typically very little of substance on there. I also think LJ is better for meeting new folks while FB is good for keeping in touch with old ones.

+2 (re: depth)

I use LJ 98% for private posts, and about 1% each friends-only and public.

A journal is a journal is a journal. I enjoy using it thusly.

It's been interesting to see how this has evolved over the past year. A lot of people on my list have left for facebook and they use twitter too. personally, I hate both facebook and twitter, but I am sure they have their place.

Good to hear from you though!

As you probably noticed, I've been using livejournal for updates. I also find it a lot easier to use for more in-depth thoughts than facebook; FB is best for blurbs.

Yeah, um, since Facebook is practically a minefield of "fundy" relatives all looking for new email addresses to add to their auto-mailing lists to spew forth their tea-bagging/birther/make-believe-man-in-the-sky e-smears, twitter wins by a freakin' mile.

Plus it's the only site that's worked on both of my phones.

I didn't know he reused that line (from "Miss The Girl") in another song, but I haven't been keeping proper tabs on him, either.

I like FB for quick blurbs and keeping track of my friends that are on the go, but I still enjoy LJ more for the ability to express yourself at length as well as its different settings. If I had to choose only one, I would probably end up dropping FB. Since I don't have too, I will now go hunt you down and send a friend request. =)

Although LJ isn't included in the mix, I think this about sums it up for me. Well, that post and this picture:

And, as [livejournal.com profile] grunter said earlier, Facebook just seems like a place to be found by fundie relatives.

Plus, I can't be on Facebook. My parents are on there. That's just ewwww.

Happy to see you posting again! :)

LJ for depth. FB for speed.

The trouble is... LJ takes *much* longer to read through and that eats the time I'd use for posting. :-)
