Work and recreational events have conspired to keep me from posting in my journal, so I'll most likely need to break up this massive update and my running commentary into several parts so I can post it all in a timely fashion. So where to begin? Hmn. Bear Pride, starting Friday night I think....
Friday Night at Bear Pride (or Den Mothers Anonymous)
I need to make one thing perfectly clear about Bear Pride before I continue, make one fact known that colored my whole experience at Bear Pride: at any time, I had 9-10 people rooming with us in what effectively is the two-bedroom apartment in the house Mike owns. Now mind you, I don't get ruffled by cramped quarters, but what DOES bother me is when I'm expected to become Julie the Cruise Director and juggle 10 lives for maximum fun in a strange city. My mistake was actually assuming it was my problem in the first place. Guess I forgot to take my sociopath pills that day. In any case, my nerves were running pretty raw as I got two carloads of Bears to JackHammer's and Touche's. I spent the better part of that evening looking for the other group which got lost in the shuffle, and when I found them, I caught hell for not finding them sooner. This combined with the fact I hate crowds left me drained and taxed beyond reason; the only bright spot was meeting the delectable SuperCub1979 at the bar and convincing him to come join the mania at our place. We got home just outside of 3 AM and I opted to crash as everyone trudged off to Omega, our 24-hour Greek Restaurant Of Last Resort.
My sleep was rerstless and plagued by dreams of my boss following me around Bear Pride criticing my pick-up style. Disturbing.
